Each season, CSA Rec Soccer designates at least one game day as Silent Saturday. For several years, we have participated in this nationwide movement to allow the children to experience and enjoy the great game of soccer minus the noise and confusion coming from the sidelines. We encourage parents, siblings, family and friends to make or bring signs, posters, banners, pom-poms, clappers etc. for supporting their player(s) and team.
By participating in Silent Saturday, we…
1. Emphasize that soccer is a “players’ game”.
2. Permit players to talk to each other on the field, free of sideline distractions.
3. Foster independent thinking by our players, letting the game be the teacher.
4. Support our youth referees by eliminating sideline interference and dissension.
